The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) has expressed its concern the Council of Mortgage Lenders' (CML) is treading on its toes with compliance guidelines for intermediaries on treating customers fairly (TCF).
Last month, it was confirmed the number of lenders supporting the CML-backed website, tcfinfo.co.uk, increased to 26, spread across 37 mortgage brands, and last week, Advantage became the latest lender to join the forum.
Richard Farr, director of AMI, said: "We want to promote awareness as much as possible, but we do have concerns that maybe the CML would approach TCF more from a lender perspective. In all fairness, the intermediary side is our area and views should come from us. We have the brokers' best interests at heart."
Bernard Clarke, spokesman for the CML, said it was trying to provide a useful tool to help as many brokers with compliance as possible.
