AMI calls for reduced FSA fees

Mortgage Solutions | 13 Nov 2008 | 12:52

The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) has called on the FSA to recognise the benefits of AMI membership by reducing regulatory fees for members.

Speaking at Mortgage Business Expo in London, Robert Sinclair, director of AMI, suggested that through its newsletters and good practice notes AMI was helping brokers to avoid falling foul of the regulator.

He added: "For this reason we would like the regulator to recognise this by giving AMI members a regulatory dividend and believe that AMI membership should lead to reduced FSA fees."

Sinclair also called for more free cases for members at the Financial Ombudsman Service, and ring fencing on banking bail outs so that members do not get caught paying Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) levies.
